3-D Secure is the extra check you see when paying online — a prompt in your banking app or a one-time code. Here’s what it does, and what it doesn’t.
What it protects
It confirms that the person using a card is the cardholder. Stolen card numbers alone are no longer enough to complete a purchase.
What it doesn’t
It won’t stop a payment you approve yourself. Invoice fraud and fake suppliers still rely on people, which is why approvals and payee checks matter just as much.
Verify new payees by phone, not email
Require two approvers above a set amount
Watch for changed bank details on existing vendors
Every kaori card payment runs 3-D Secure plus real-time fraud scoring — at no cost to you.
